Important Security Notice for users of SchoolastechWorks products
Written by Robert Anthony Pitera
Thursday, 14 September 2006

Due to the improved security models proposed by the Joomla! Development team, as well as the discovery of several potential risks, SchoolastechWorks is warning users of ALL previous versions of our products to discontinue their use as soon as possible and to update to newer versions that are currently available via the Joomla! Developers Forge

This notice affects ALL products including the following:

  • BadWords 2
  • BadWords 2 'bots
  • BadWords2 Thrid Party Integrations
  • Colophon
  • CB Email Hack

Colophon is now at version 1.3.2 and includes fixes for all securiyt issues as well as improved functionality and additional bug fixes.  All users of prior versions are advised to upgrade IMMEDIATELY or remove it to avoid any potential security exploit risks.

BadWords 2 and related products are currently undergoing final testing by Wim and should be available shortly (please check the Forge, as they may be available after publication of this notice!).  In addition to improvements in security, we are updating the code to reflect new releases of the thrid party programs they integrate with.

Once the main product line is hardened and improved, I will be updating the Community Builder Email Hack to reflect the latest version, 1.0.1.  Thanks for your support as well as your patience!

SchoolastechWorks revival in process

Pardon the long absence and the mess here, I suffered a few major setbacks and tragic losses in the past few months, and while I'm not prepared to go into details here, suffice to say I had more than my share of personal/family issues to deal with.  It was never my intent to abandon this project, but my personal life took priority for a while - I apologize to all concerned.

It's going to take me at least another week to restore this site and the forums, which were hacked using an exploit that most Joomla admins are dealing with at present.  I hope to have the site back up and newer secure vesions of our products available once I get back in touch with my partner Wim Albers, who, in my absence has been supporting the product base.

A new version of Colophon is available at the Joomla forge; ALL USERS MUST UPDATE IMMEDIATELY!

More info as I get time, and thanks for your patience and understanding...
