ABOUT COLOPHON
Colophon is a publishing term which refers to a page where information regarding the creation of a publication is placed.  Colophon for Joomla! automatically creates a page on your site (which can be linked from any menu) that lists all the components,
as well as published modules and bots in use on your site.

This component was developed with two main goals:

  • To give credit to Third Party Developers, provide a way of cataloging add ons in use at any particular site and help spread the word on those add ons we use
  • To provide a way for visitors who use Joomla! to find out how certain features are accomplished (Finally, an easy answer to "How do you do 'XYZ' on your site?")
FEATURES

  • This component will display credits (name, author, version, e-mail and web site) for each installed Joomla! component and each published module and bot in one central page.
  • Hovering over the Info Icon reveals details about each installed Joomla! component and each published module and bot entry.
  • Clicking on the author name will launch your preferred email client, and automatically format the email with the author's address, putting the component/module/bot name and version number in the subject line
  • There is a user editable 'preamble' section which allows for any text to be added
  • Extensive language support (English and Dutch language files provided)
CONFIGURATION

  • Install the component using the Joomla! Component Installer
  • Create a menu item (Type = Component) using the Joomla! Menu Manager
  • To add your own text to the component, edit the COLOPHON_PREAMBLE entry in the language file that matches your site language in /components/com_colophon/languages.  If don't wish to use this feature, simply remove the sample text and leave a blank space.
TO DO

  • Editing the COLOPHON_PREAMBLE entry in the language file from an admin backend
  • Basic server and Joomla information section?  (Possibly for admins only?)
  • Suggestions for other enhancements welcome!
